The Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) pre-published a set of regulations related to the Standards and Labeling (S&L) program on 16th July, 2025. Comments were invited on the same by 15th August, 2025. We commend BEE for publishing a comprehensive set of regulations on S&L. We suggest that the regulations should also include rules for e-commerce platrofms to display the valid star labels in a prominent and consistent manner. We also recommend that BEE publish a Annual Compliance Verification Plan for the upocming year along with a Annual Compliance Verification Report, detailing the activieties done in the previous year. These steps will aid in improving the effectiveness and increasing the credibility of the Standards and Labelling Programme.
