RRVUNL has submitted a review petition in response to RERC Suo Motu Order dated 05 May 2026, which directed the generating company to immediately stop all under-construction FGD works and bars further capital expenditure on the same. The construction of FGD at thermal power plants has significant impact on the consumers, both financial and environmental. Towards safeguarding consumer interests, Prayas (Energy Group) inputs on the matter included: 

• Considering FGD installation at category C TPP based on finacial impact of completion or termination
• Ensuring costs are passed on to consumers only if the installed FGD is operational, and mandating CEMS data publication to verify SO2 and PM emission control
• Safeguarding projects with operating FGDs from moving lower on the MoD stack
