This short article, which appeared in the Opinion  page of Hindu Business Line on 31/07/13 argues that providing electricity connection alone is not enough to empower the rural poor. Adequate and affordable power supply is equally important - be it through grid or off-grid systems. It also stresses the need to improve the regulatory oversight for effective and sustainable implementations .
