Maharashtra State Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) filed a petition before MERC for entering into a long-term (25 years) PPA with Lanco Energy Pvt Ltd (LEPL). LEPL was supposed to supply 500 MW power from its Teesta VI hydro station located in Sikkim. Lanco had proposed a flat rate tariff of 2.32 Rs/kWh at the generator end. Prayas's comments point out the insufficient data and information in MSEDCL's proposal such as lack of demand forecast and key design parameters of the plant etc. Moreover, it was clear from the available data that the plant is going to operate at its full capacity only for 3 months in the year.
