TANGEDCO has filed a petition for true-up for for five years from FY 2016-17 to FY2020-21, Annual Performance Review (APR) for FY 2021-22 and for determination of Aggregate Revenue Requirement (ARR) and tariff for five years from FY 2022-23 to FY2026-27 before the TNERC. This petition comes after five years of non-revision of ARR and tariff.
Prayas (Energy Group)’s submission in the matter focusses on the financial crisis before TANGEDCO. With the average cost of supply uncompetitively high at Rs. 9.13 (FY21) and assessed regulatory asset by FY21 at unsustainable levels of Rs.1.1 lakh crores, concerted medium term efforts are required to reduce cost of supply and improve operational efficiency. The submission also focusses on lack of clarity in TANGEDCO's propose on tariff increase proposed, accountability measures necessary with inflation linked tariffs and tariff design suggestions to ensure cost compensation to DISCOM while ensuring affordable supply to the poor.
